Notts’ pre-season continued with a bland, disjointed 3-1 loss at Mansfield Town in the baking sun.
Centre-back Brad McGowan – in his first year as a professional at Notts – put County in the lead but it was his misjudgement of a high ball in defence that led to Fabian Spiess in goal conceding a penalty. Moments later the hosts led 2-1 thanks to poor Notts defending from a corner.
A largely dour affair with a Notts side littered with trialists saw ten changes at half time from Shaun Derry with all bar Spiess coming off. Travelling supporters began to leave en masse when the Stags headed in a third past a despairing goalkeeper.
