Notts County kicked off their pre-season preparations for 2014/15 with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Arnold Town – a win marred by a serious looking injury to Jimmy Spencer.
The striker, signed on a permanent deal this Summer was injured in winning a penalty on 20 minutes. Spencer knew straight away something was up, physios aided him from the field as he was seen acknowledging to supporters that it was a knee problem.
Ronan Murray duly dispatched the spot kick after a wait for Spencer to receive attention. Man Of The Match Tyrell Waite scored two goals, sandwiched either side of a free-kick scored by trialist Lucas Dawson. If the news of Spencer’s injury is the worst, much will be expected of Tyrell this season having been patient for much of his Meadow Lane career thus far.
A crowd of 1,019 packed into Eagle Valley, the new Notts training base. Next up in pre-season is a trip to Mansfield Town on Saturday.
