Shaun Derry today completed the first signing of the Summer in recapturing striker Jimmy Spencer who obviously impressed during the run which confirmed Notts’ League One status for next season.
It’s an impressive way to start the pre-season with deals still on the table for Kyle Dixon, Gary Liddle, Jamal-Campbell-Ryce and Alan Sheehan. Spencer’s signing on transfer deadline day may have not raised many eyebrows, but his goals, hold up play and THAT FIRST TOUCH made his signature much sought after at Meadow Lane.
On top of the news that the club has exercised the one year extension on Ronan Murray’s contract, it would appear that not even a fortnight into the pre-season, we have our front two sorted already for next season.
Spencer told BBC Radio Nottingham: “I wanted to get it done early, know where I’m going to be next season and then really enjoy my holiday“. Surely the sort of attitude everyone wants to hear? No stringing the club along, no agents fishing for other clubs – just a signature on the dotted line!
