Champions Elect

So this is it…hopefully! Notts travel this evening to the Darlington Arena knowing that a win is enough to seal the club’s first silverware in over a decade in a top versus bottom clash.

The already relegated Darlington did County a real favour just two weeks ago in putting a temporary halt to Rochdale’s promotion bid, with a 1-0 win at Spotland also helping to put County top of the league.

That should be more than enough to tell Steve Cotterill tonight’s game isn’t one to be underestimated despite Darlo’s loss to relegation-threatened Grimsby Town on the weekend.

Lee Hughes, Ben Davies (both fresh from their selections in the PFA’s League Two Of The Year on Sunday evening) and John Thompson are all doubtful for the match and will get late fitness tests, but there’s still enough artillery in the squad to get a result tonight with any two out of Delroy Facey, Craig Westcarr or Luke Rodgers most likely leading the frontline.

Difficult for me to talk too much about the match because i’m gutted i can’t be there myself. Have been a part of some amazing moments with Notts in recent weeks so it’s pretty hard to swallow that i’ll miss the final whistle tonight! Uncle Colin on Magpie Player it is!
